Desktop Search Engine Source goes Open Source

The most powerful program on the Planet is going Open Source. (Spectate Swamp Desktop Search)

Who:
===
Who wants first crack at this desktop search code?
A great starting point for anyone wishing to dabble with search.
Those with Visual Basic 5, 6 or have a friend with VB
Visual basic related sites, IT writers and computer magazines.
Those wanting to build a Java or Web Search.
Those on other operating systems or using portable multimedia devices.
Open Source sites.
Even non programmers wanting to learn and use a real application.

What:
====
The Source Code for Desktop Search:(10,000 lines of Visual Basic code in One routine)
The flowchart for Text display is on the Web.

It is as dirt simple as I could make it, leaving in lots of comments and deactivated print statements for debugging. When new features were put in, the changes for that new option has the 'date' as a comment. It often takes 3 or 4 different changes to add a feature. The program uses just a single form in Visual Basic. I will post a video of the setup required to build your first exe from within VB.

That's all there is to it.

No Database or other software required.
(Except for Notepad and minor text editing)

Very few specialty calls, so porting to Linux, Mac, Java.. should go smoothly.

Where:
=====
By email list 25-50 first and after 1 month at download sites everywhere.
(I'll need a list of download sites?)

When:
====
As soon as I get a list of 25 to 50 interested webbies from thevarious computer groups. I'll email them copies first. That could be as soon as 1 or 2 days. I want at least 25 webbies but will settle for 10.

Why:
===
As of late; I have avoided making even minor changes.
(I'll make one final change before the release)
So it's time for others to really make this app shine.
Stand back and look out Desktop Search is going to change.
It does most most of what I want. But there are a few
things that would be nice. And oodles of other possible
enhancements. E.G. When you have search and replace, it's just
a tiny step to create a rudimentary accounting system.

With Open Source this Search will progress much farther and faster
having nice skins and more options. There should be many flavors of
this search. One for speed. Another for it's interface yet another
for its debug capabilities. I can't wait. This will be fun.

Going Open Source; may be just the boost this Search needs to make it
against the Search Giants. (They may want to take a peek)

Questions:
=========
What Special feature would you add?
Why are you interested in Desktop Search?
Is there any application that is more fun than this Desktop Search.
What multimedia device would you port it to?
